Kazakhstan's Chairman of JSC NC QazaqGaz, Arman Kassenov, has
announced that the country has enough gas reserves to last for
another century. Kassenov made the statement at a press conference
after a meeting of the Samruk-Kazyna Fund's Public Council. He
revealed that Kazakhstan has 3.8 trillion cubic meters of gas
reserves, which, with an estimated commercial consumption of 25
billion cubic meters, would be sufficient to meet the country's
gas needs for the next 100 years.
In addition to
discussing gas reserves, Kassenov addressed issues related to gas
processing. He noted that the domestic market was experiencing
losses due to unfair pricing for subsoil users. Kassenov explained
that these users were unable to process raw gas into commercial gas
for the country as a result of the pricing, resulting in losses for
the industry. Therefore, he emphasized the need for a fair pricing
mechanism that would enable subsoil users to process raw gas and
supply commercial gas to the country.
Overall,
Kazakhstan's substantial gas reserves provide a solid
foundation for the country's energy security. With the right
policies in place, the country can continue to leverage this
resource for its economic development and ensure that its domestic
gas needs are met for years to come.
