Kazakhstan’s oil and gas industry reached a historic milestone in
March 2025, with production hitting an impressive 2.17 million
barrels per day (bpd)—equivalent to 8.95 million metric tons for the
month. This surge, the highest in the nation’s history, underscores
the resilience and ambition of our energy sector, even as global
market dynamics shift.
A key driver behind this
achievement is Chevron’s Future Growth Project (FGP) at the Tengiz
oilfield, which began delivering first oil earlier this year. The
expansion has boosted Tengiz’s capacity by 260,000 bpd, pushing its
total output toward an ambitious 1 million barrels of oil equivalent
per day (boepd). This leap forward not only showcases cutting-edge
technology but also highlights the power of international
collaboration in unlocking Kazakhstan’s vast potential.
However,
this record production comes with complexities. Kazakhstan’s output
exceeds its OPEC+ quota of 1.468 million bpd, prompting discussions
within the alliance about compliance. Yet, this overachievement
reflects the strength of our industry, driven by major players like
Chevron and ExxonMobil, alongside local expertise.
We’re
proud to be part of this dynamic landscape, contributing to
operational excellence and innovation that keep our nation at the
forefront of global energy markets. As we move forward, we remain
committed to harnessing this growth responsibly, ensuring a
sustainable future for all stakeholders.
